Boko Haram Abduct up to 200 girls from Secondary school in Borno.


According to reports About 200 girls have been reported to be abducted in an attack on a  school in Borno state, Nigeria.

Recounting the incident,some parents, gunmen arrived at the school located in Chibok, Borno state, late last night, marched the teenage girls in the hostel on to four lorries.

Speaking to the BBC Hausa service, the parents said that at least 200 girls had been abducted and from indications the attackers were from the terrorist group, Boko Haram.



A student who did not wish to be named, told the BBC that she had escaped after seeing her classmates jump out of the back of a lorry.

The raid which was carried out at the Girls Secondary School in Chibok, a town on the border between Borno and Adamawa States took place on monday night just as Nigerians were morning the blast that happened in Abuja in the morning.

 Members of the extremist Islamist group  reportedly killed a soldier guarding the school and inflicted injuries on several villagers before abducting the students.

The police commissioner in Borno State, Lawan Tanko has confirmed the kidnapping of the students to reporters in the state.

A source who lives near the school said there was complete chaos during the attack, adding that the students could put up no resistance to the heavily armed attackers.

The mass abduction lasted between 9PM -3 AM as sect members made several trips picking and choosing their victims out of the 250 students enrolled in the school.

 Residents of the area also reported that  the militants  razed 100 homes because some of the residents initially resisted the militants.
