Writer and lawyer Elnathan John and blogger Sisiyemmie call out Linda Ikeji on Intellectual and photography theft.

 So Elnthan is a Lawyer,writer and I think with a bit if photography on the side..He reportedly took photos of the dignitaries donating blood for the Nyanya victims which Linda reportedly lifted and posted on her blog..

A certain line caught my eye..

"This brings me to what happened yesterday on twitter: @elnathan took some pictures in Abuja and some bloggers used it on their blogs without reference or permission and some people didn't think it was wrong. IT IS WRONG. Imagine someone passing off your work as theirs…Nigerian bloggers we need to become aware of the legal realities of blogging. We need to do better. Be professional about blogging. If you're a blogger, you need to take time off to learn about copyright laws.

Apart from being sued, do you know that photography is a source of livelihood for some people? When you don’t pay for their pictures or get their permission to use their images you are ruining their business. It’s not fair. I am still learning and I want us all to be aware of this. Ignorance is not bliss."

She was clearly talking about the incident involving Linda..Even though we get inspired by different things to write a post I do not think it was the right time to call out your fellow blogger..

I remember while still in London getting a mail from associated press about some photos they found on my blog and am like OMG how did they find my blog! But down here in Naija its been a different scenario plagiarism is just the order of the day and sometimes we are kind of forced to join in ,we are all guilty.

Dear Elnathan am sure you just needed Linda to credit you and I know how it feels when someone uses your work and takes all the credit absolutely painful! heartbreaking infact! Hopefully she will apologize!

Dear Sisiyemmie  I do not  think its fair to call out your fellow blogger in such manner even if you dint mention names its was quite evident you were pointing fingers,we are all in this business and the truth is for entertainment bloggers there is no way you can always create your own photos no way!  you most of the time get content from the celebrities and entertainers you can ask from bigger bloggers like Perez,Necole bitchie Sandra rose and the rest.

You might have a point yes! But at the end of the day no one is perfect. In life we move up,meet some people there and some people also meet us there and sometimes even overtake us.. We all learn lessons.

Dear Linda Ikeji maybe its time you began to also give credit to the people who help your blog function, for someone who earns their living from their photos,blogs and sites truth is you cant get all the news,info,content and expose,give credit to the photogs,sites and the likes where you sometimes get your content from you've grown and you can only help them grow too!
